My work sits part way between painting and something illustrative or cartoon-like. From early in my career I shied away from the fact that the thing that supplemented my art practice was moonlighting as a caricaturist entertainer. Caricaturing was fun, I visited fancy venues, mixed with celebrities and often got a free dinner! I could observe a persons character instantly and capture them on the page in three minutes to make them laugh - a fantastic skill, however my fine art education whispered in my ear that I wasn’t being a “proper artist”.
Today my painting practice leans heavily on my drawing skills and my ability to convey character is the at the heart of my creations. As a caricaturist I gained an exceptional asset that is now instrumental in helping my paintings have the personality to stand out from the ordinary.
P.S. Sorry, I won’t draw your caricature...I’m a proper artist now!
Don’t have the space?
Here in the U.K. many of our homes don’t have wall space to hang huge paintings, so I also offer high quality prints that you can order in bespoke sizes to fit your space, as well as work on paper. Many of my original paintings are oversize but can be shipped rolled in a tube for you to stretch and frame in the way you prefer.
I have limited framing skills and present selected pieces in a simple matt white tray frame which looks smart against any backdrop. I am, however, not a framer, so if you would like pieces framed professionally, I can recommend the local framers below for a friendly and professional service.
